E-mail and Other Info
There in an act called the "The CAN-SPAM Act" that discusses
the usage of mass e-mailing that is used to gain profit by
advertising a sites products or services. We at the
AchievingLife Network have read this act and are trying to
keep it in mind in our handling of e-mails to people. As a
reminder, e-mails to potential and current members are not
to "sell/charge for" a product/service.
There is no fee to be a regular member of any site within
the AchievingLife Network, nor are there plans now to ever be.
Further, we do not have an
"Invite your Friends" process like other sites that constantly
send people e-mails - under the guise of a person often
in your e-mail addressbook- to join the site.
Please read the following policies that we do have.
Please remember to read our TOS and Privacy as well..
- Beta-Testing. At this time, prior to the end of December 2006, we are fully
in a beta-testing mode. This means we do not and will not be pursuing
the ability to market to a very large number of people. This is because
while we know the site is a great idea until the site is at least
in a beta-live mode to get the assistance to promote the site on a
very large scale does not make sense as the site still needs feedback.
As such, e-mails that are sent out to people informing them of the
site is to get feedback, comments, suggestions, concerns, and ideas.
Many people who join may only give some feedback so more people get
invited to join the site so that we might get better feedback. Once
the site is in a beta-live or full-live mode we will seek out routes
that will be able to promote the site on the very large level in order
to show its relevance. Thinking from that standpoint if this site
was released say to a group of people not as an in-process project
but a complete useful site and then they came and saw the site as
it is today the thoughts would be questioning why the site is promoted
when it is as of yet not finished.
- Membership is free. E-mails that are sent that invite a person (or group of people) to
become a member are not for direct profit. These e-mails, especially at our start-up, are to get feedback
on the site, gain members so that they can interact, and yes to promote the existence of our site.
People who are e-mailed have the ability through the e-mail to contact us via e-mail, snail mail,
or the owners personal cell-phone to not be sent a message again.
- Organizations. Yes there is a fee for organizations based on their
level. The fees are yearly and very low and may be changed. For 2007
the proposed fees for organizations is $25/mo. Organizations will
receive e-mails that inform them of our service, within these e-mails
is contact information including my own (CEO) name, cell-phone number,
and our address.
- Advertisers. We will not send e-mails to random, unknown to us, businesses to get them to sign up as advertisers on the site.
We will contact such advertisers by snail mail, phone call, in person, or through an e-mail to one specific company
based on contact with that company, an employee of that company, or client/customer who believes there is an interest in advertising.
E-mails to businesses will be sent to get feedback, comments, and suggestions for the site - if these lead to the
business becoming an advertiser, great, if not that is fine it was not the intent.
- Obtaining E-mails. AchievingLife Network does not have the money
or desire to join any of the groups that send mass e-mails to thousands
of users nor will we purchse such lists - though we will be creating
our own lists that will not be sold, traded, or given out. We are
not a part of any of the online MLM's that are designed to increase
the numbers of people who will view our site. Further, the e-mail
address that is provided at registration is not displayed elsewhere
in the site and a member is not required to create a profile or put
any particular information in the profile. Also, unlike most sites
we do not have a place where a person can send "invite" e-mails -
we feel if a person wants to invite others they can send the e-mails
themselves. Using e-mails to inform people of our website is very
cheap in comparison to paying for advertisements and also has the
ability to reach people more easily. At this point in time we do not
have the $$ to afford advertising in print, tv, or radio mediums,
eventually we will do this.
- Philosophy. There is an elaborate dream and philosophy of the site creators which is being compiled and
will be able to be accessed from the mysection page. The page will be up by August 1st, 2007. Some simply put phrases
about this philosophy can be summed as we believe that:
- the so called 'ladder/hierachy' of succes ought to be turned sideways
- the old-time community connections can and need to continue to exist
- Equality incorporates respecting the unique gifts and abilities that make each of us unique
- in this global world there is benefit from interaction with people from various cultures/disciplines
- that through exploring and learning about what is around us we can live a much fuller life
- There are numerous lessons that can be gained from reading The Dialogue Decalogue
Ground Rules for Interreligious, Intercultural Dialogue - By Leonard Swidler
- we are not perfect we do not have all or even close to all the answers, but we are seeking
we are in a state of looking, searching, learning.. of achieving a perfect balance.
