"Sage: Cooking & Healing!"

Sage:

With a rather strong and woody flavor sage is popular in cooking poultry as well as other meat and meat like dishes in European, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and American cuisine.

Among the Greeks and Romans sage was thought to have strong healing properties including in assisting with ailments of Plague, memory, assistance with fertility, and be a protection against evil. Other civilizations including the ancient Egyptians and Native Americans held the same or similar views on sage deserving respect as a healing and cleansing herb.

On the health side of things sage does have good amounts of calcium, potassium, iron, and vit. A which all are involved in keeping a healthy body especially in relation to bones and skin. It also contains rosmarinic acid which serves as a mild anti-inflamatory. Being a strong anti-oxident sage brings the benefits of protection against cancer. Sage tea with these benefits may help healthy reproductive health in women.

Other forms of sage, including clary sage and white sage, are traditionally used in essential oil form or incense to promote clarity of thought as well as relaxation and deep dreaming. These forms and uses of sage can relieve stress, anxiety, and depression while assisting in a more healing sleep.
